Second Edition of the Nigerian Sports Awards (NSA) Commences

Lagos, Nigeria - The second edition of the Nigerian Sports Awards for recognising and rewarding outstanding Nigerian sports men and women who have excelled in their respective sporting events has commenced.

“We sincerely want to thank the media for your support during the first edition of the award while we seek your continued support for the second edition; we also want to use your medium to call on sports loving organisations to partner with us to make this initiative the one that we would all be proud of” - Mr. Kayode Idowu

The Nigerian Sport Awards which was instituted last year is an initiative of the Unmissable Incentives Limited, one of Nigeria’s leading companies in events and experiential marketing services in conjunction with Master Sports International.

Unveiling the plans for the 2013 awards at a press conference held in Lagos on Tuesday June 25, 2013, the General Manager Unmissable Incentives Limited Mr. Kayode Idowu noted that the second edition of the awards promises to be better as the awards are gaining more recognition in the Nigerian sports industry.

Idowu described the first edition of the awards as successful with lessons which the awards panel has identifies and is working on to ensure a better and exciting second edition. He also called on well-meaning sports loving individuals and corporate organisations to support the initiative to make it the most prestigious sports award in Nigeria.

Disclosing the timelines for the 2013 awards, Mr. Idowu declared that the nominations for will start on Monday, July 1 and close on Saturday September 7, 2013 while the awards ceremony will hold on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 in Lagos.

The chairman of the Awards Panel, Mr. Ikeddy Isiguzo revealed that a new category, the Sports Governor of the Year, has been added to recognise a Governor adjudged to have shown greatest support to sports development within the award year.

“There would be awards for Discovery of the Year (male & female), School Sports. The public would be able to nominate any athlete from November 2012 to date” - Mr. Ikeddy Isiguzo

He reinstated that the Nigerian Sports Awards are open to Nigerian sport men and women at home and abroad. The categories include football, track sports, field star of the year, ball sports, combats sports, weight lifting and special sports.
